Assists university faculty and other clients to design, develop, and maintain distance learning courses and materials.

Provides recommendations regarding all aspects of the course design and development process, including content arrangement, use of assessments, and selection of appropriate technology to facilitate distance learning.

Assists faculty in assessing the effectiveness of a given instructional tool or strategy when applied to a particular learning goal.

Implements design methods to transform content into instructionally sound, interactive learning modules that will aid instructors in assessing the needs of distance learners.

Documents, manages, and implements work flow processes related to instructional design.

Implements FIU Online¿s Quality Assurance standards and best practices in the creation of assigned distance learning courses.

Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with instructors and serves as the source of information in regards to FIU Online initiatives and trainings.

Creates, maintains, and facilitates general training for the benefit of faculty, staff, and students.

Performs scheduled course audits to ensure distance learning courses meet departmental quality standards.

Responds to faculty requests and resolves all course maintenance requests in a timely manner.

Remains current with media design and creation skills in appropriate technologies.

Presents on instructional design theory and development processes at local and out of state conferences.

Manages department initiatives and projects from inception to completion, including timeline, budget and resources.

Develops and leads workshops and webinars for faculty and staff in current and emerging uses of technology for teaching.

Explores and recommends the procurement of multimedia software for use by FIU Online faculty and staff.

Evaluates articles in educational technology, industry regulations and best practices and disseminate to all Instructional Designers as deemed appropriate.

Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed.
