Toronto Maple Leafs We love the city of Toronto, just like we love Montreal and Quebec, but in a different sort of way. We really, really want the Toronto Maple Leafs to win, because we want the nice people in Toronto to have a sense of what it is like to be a winner in the NHL. But, we really, really dont think it is this year. Sorry.4. Winnipeg Jets There will be lots of energy in Winnipeg with the return of the Jets. So, we wont be surprised if they overperform. It would be great for the city of Winnipeg if they squeezed into the playoffs, but we just dont see it. There is lots of room for optimism on defense, but it will be tough to get enough offense to pull it off.5. Ottawa Senators Everyone expects Ottawa to finish last. Since we dont want to be like everyone, we are predicting that they will finish third from last. Basically, the kids need to do well just so they can feel good about the future. Then, who knows, maybe getting a number one draft pick is in the cards6. Florida Panthers. Lets give the Panthers credit for a number of key signings over the summer. Alexander Ovechkin has been a one man wrecking crew ever since he entered the league in 2005. He is the most feared shooter in the game, and goaltenders shake in their pads when they see this burly Russian winger bearing down on them. Goalies aren the only ones with cause for nervousness when the Great 8 is on the ice. He is also one of the most punishing hitters in the game, and he is without fear when in pursuit of the puck, crushing his opponents and taking the frozen biscuit as his prize. His combination of speed, size and skill make him the complete offensive package, and as the newest captain of the Washington Capitals he has shown himself to be an inspirational leader as well. Look for Ovechkin to again be a heavy favorite to capture the Hart, Art Ross and Rocket Richard trophies this
