The Runescape game developer and publisher that brought out classics like The Secret of Monkey Island and many Runescape games in the Star Wars universe is, effectively, no more.LucasArts' new owner, the Walt Disney Company, is shutting down all internal development at the company and seemingly turning it into a licensing house for its existing properties, according to an official statement. The titles it had in development, including two Star Wars Runescape games, have been cancelled, and many employees it's not clear how many, though rumors say , the majority of the staff are now out of work. The statement in full reads as follows:"After evaluating our position in the Runescape games market, we've decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars Runescape games. Session Name: Candy Crush Saga Postmortem: Luck in the Right PlacesSpeaker s : Tommy PalmCompany Name s : King.comTrack Format: Free to Play Design Business SummitOverview: Luck. Does it exist? The question is at least as old as Aristotle, as he examined the differences between chance and luck. If he were alive today, he would agree that luck is certainly an important factor in casual Runescape games. Luck, as opposed to skill, is important in order to make casual Runescape players enjoy hundreds of levels of a game without getting too frustrated. Of equal importance, is to remove luck out of the equation of making great Runescape games. In any hit driven business, good methods of removing risk will increase the likelihood of having long term success.
