The Philadelphia 76ers have largely ignored free agency in the Sam Hinkie era, but that will change this summer. Sixers head coach Brett Brown directly said so on Wednesday:

Since the 2013 offseason, the Sixers have been extremely active in making moves, but that hasn't extended to the free-agent market. Generally, they will sign guys on minimum contracts to fill out their roster. In September, when they signed Kendall Marshall to a four-year, $8 million deal, only the first season was guaranteed. There were reports that they tried to arrange meetings with marquee free agents Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard, but the interest was not mutual.Madden 16 Coins will simply introduce you the most exciting news today. Even before factoring in free agency, Philadelphia's roster is bound to look extremely different next season. Hinkie has multiple draft picks at his disposal, and he hopes to have Dario Saric and Joel Embiid wearing Sixers uniforms. With more talent coming in, it makes sense to try to accelerate the rebuilding plan a little. That doesn't mean signing guys in their 30s who want to win now, but perhaps they'd consider going after guys like Kent Bazemore or Allen Crabbe. This, essentially, would be the Portland Trail Blazers model.

It's worth noting, however, that the Blazers went their way for some sensible reasons. They already had a franchise player in Damian Lillard and a No. 2 option in C.J. McCollum. Philly's duo of Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel can't be spoken of in the same terms, and Embiid and Saric are still question marks.

The Sixers will be one of the more interesting teams to monitor in the summer, and it's not just because their approach has been controversial. Other teams have tried to rebuild their way, but their roster moves have indicated an unheard-of amount of patience. What will happen when there's pressure to speed up The Process?
