Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jarred Tinordi has been suspended 20 games for violating the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program, the league announced Wednesday. Tinordi will miss the remainder of the season and his suspension will carry over to the 2016-17 campaign.

Tinordi has appeared in only seven games with the Coyotes so far this season after he was part of the now infamous trade that sent enforcer John Scott to the Montreal Canadiens before Scott's star turn in the NHL All-Star Game. You can buy buy NHL 16 Coins or Cheap NHL 16 Coins there, and get more latest European Cup and HUT 16 Coins for sale news from NHL 16 COINS.

Tinordi is a former first-round draft pick of the Canadiens, but has struggled to maintain a full-time role in the NHL, spending the bulk of his pro years in the AHL. The son of longtime NHLer Mark Tinordi has appeared in 53 total games in the NHL since the 2012-13 season. He has registered six assists and 78 penalty minutes over his career.

“I am extremely disappointed that I failed a test under the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program. I did not knowingly take a banned substance. I understand, however, that I am responsible for what enters my body as a professional athlete and I accept the suspension. I will work hard towards my return to the ice and will learn from this frustrating setback.”

“Late yesterday afternoon, we were made aware of the situation regarding Jarred Tinordi. The Arizona Coyotes organization fully supports the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program. We will also continue to support Jarred throughout this process. We will have no further comment at this time.”

The Coyotes are currently 10 points out of a playoff spot with 16 games to go, making it unlikely for them to reach the playoffs. Their season will likely end with four games remaining on Tinordi's suspension.

The 24-year-old defenseman is currently playing on a one-year contract and will be a restricted free agent this summer. Assuming Tinordi remains on the Coyotes' NHL roster for the duration of the season, he'll still have to serve those four games on the suspension if he is called up to the NHL next season.

Tinordi is the second NHL player to receive a suspension through the NHL/NHLPA PED program this season. Anaheim Ducks forward Shawn Horcoff was also suspended 20 games in January for a similar violation.
